The Mustang was my first guitar. Actually, it was my second guitar. I owned one of those aluminum neck Kramers for like a week or something. Sold it for $100. What are they worth now?

I never liked the neck on the Mustang–it is too narrow. I liked the sound, though, and loved the color. I think I got it at Starving Musician in San Jose for around $200 in 1987. It’s not for sale. I already promised it to my kid.

I’m no Fender expert, but I think it’s early 70s. The plastic tuners are kind of crap. Needs new strings and a proper setup.

The first Crate amps were really crates. Like this one, which I believe is from the late 70s. I got it at a pawn shop in Iowa City in 1990 for $100 I think. Clean and loud.

This was my first distortion pedal. I probably bought it in 1987 or 1988. I can’t remember if I bought it used or new. Probably used. Maybe off of a friend. It sounds great and totally classic.

I guess Kurt Cobain liked this pedal a lot, too.
